Unique organic aroma from Kars
This hard cheese is a true specialty. It comes from the province of Kars in northeastern Türkiye. The high plains there are famous for their rich flora with over 1,500 flower species. The cows graze on these organic meadows and produce a unique, aromatic milk. This milk is the soul of the cheese.
Traditionally aged for full flavor
ALTINKILIÇ produces this cheese in a completely natural way: only organic milk, yeast, and table salt. The true secret, however, is time. The cheese ages (ferments) for 9 to 12 months in cold storage. Only then does it develop its intense, strong, and slightly piquant flavor. Its texture is firm and full-bodied — a must for true cheese lovers.
Serving recommendation
This cheese is perfect for a premium cheese board (Peynir Tabağı) or as a flavor highlight for a traditional Turkish breakfast. It also pairs wonderfully with a full-bodied red wine.
